Biography

Originally from the diverse and beautiful island of Jamaica, Dr. Carlene Fider developed a passion for working with individuals in clinical and academic context. In addition to being a published scholar, a prolific writer, a diligent teacher, and a powerful leader, Dr. Fider enjoys teaching and seminar presentation. Although her primary research focuses on dual professional families, she has interests in child and adolescent development, immigrant marriages, work-family issues and parent education. She has found that the marriage of her clinical and research/academic backgrounds are useful for her students as well as those with whom she works. Dr. Fider has had the opportunity to travel to various parts of the world for pleasure, business, and service/mission, and appreciates experiencing new cultures and new foods. Of most significance are personal and professional relationships that she has formed due to those adventures, and the positive impact they have had on her life.
