Gretchen Houk

Prior to joining POC, I taught art for 11 years in a public high school. Before that I taught for three years as a visiting artist in elementary schools while working as a mural painter. I have also taught a seniors art class and critique group. One of the best parts about teaching is witnessing a student experience an Aha! Moment and I feel that those moments are plentiful when it comes to art. I believe that anyone can learn how to make art.

I am in the process of setting up a small ceramics studio to continue my own practice and possibly teach private lessons. Making things motivates me. I usually have a surface design, knitting, mural, or other project going at all times. My husband is also an art teacher and we have a very creative daughter.
