I have over 20 years experience as a secondary science educator in both public and private independent schools. As a classroom teacher I have taught Biology, Integrated Physics & Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology and AP Research courses. Over the course of my teaching tenure I have been proactive in advocating for and leading other teachers by serving in such capacities as a Department chair, AVID site committee leader, Integrative Technology Team Lead, Student Centered Teaching Team leader, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice committee member and with district curriculum writing and mapping. I have also served as a district representative with the Texas Education Agency and Pearson Education for 4 years to assist with writing, editing and auditing science state assessments and end-of course examinations. Lastly, I have been a partner with universities and schools of education both as a student teacher mentor and on-site teaching supervisor with the UTeach program.
My current interest is in helping adult learners and pre-service teachers build their personal agency and self-capacity as they enter teaching full-time.
