Dr. Pascual has been with Los Angeles County for 22 years, the last 12 of which are Training Manager of Adult Protective Services (APS). APS is a state-mandated 24/7 program investigating elder and dependent adult abuse allegations. L.A. County has the most extensive APS program in the State, employing 180 plus social workers in 24 field offices. As a Training Manager, he oversees training of new and veteran social workers. He coordinates APS outreach activities and provides presentations all over the County to create awareness of elder and dependent adult abuse and provide resources and information on reporting procedures. He actively engages with the community in the fight against elder and dependent adult abuse, collaborating with the District Attorney's Office, Law Enforcement Agencies, medical professionals, emergency personnel/first responders, financial entities, and various stakeholders. Under Dr. Pascual's direction, the Los Angeles County APS Training Program won the 2022 National Association of Counties (NaCO) Achievement Award and the 2022 Los Angeles County Productivity and Quality (P&Q) Special Mention. He obtained his M.A. in Human Development from P.O. He also holds a Ph.D. in Gerontology.

Please describe your teaching philosophy. My teaching philosophy reflects my interest in collaborative learning. Instead of the "traditional" teaching method of largely autocratic lectures, I prefer evidence-based, student-centered teaching that encourages learning by both students and teachers. I favor classroom dynamics that permit dialogue and foster a degree of student input as to curricula. I like students to think about the class as a community.
