Professor Yolanda Carlos, Core Faculty ECE role at Pacific Oaks College School of Education has been to create new innovative specialization programs such as STEAM and Trauma to support current needs in preparing students with 21st Century Skills necessary to be leaders in the profession.

Professor Carlos has developed a passion for the Early Childhood Education Profession and providing culturally centered programs and education for creating agents of change. She has presented papers and workshops at State wide and international conferences; most recently at The Learner Research Conference, Queen's University, Belfast, Ireland (2019)- topic Anti-Bias through the Lens of the Practitioner, Hong Kong International Conference on Education, Psychology, and Society (2018). Presenting workshops throughout China and California focusing on STEAM specialization developed for educators; UPC International Educators Congress, Lima, Peru (2015) and Trauma informed practices for teachers at the World Forum (2017).

She is interested in pedagogy, curriculum and research focusing on Early Childhood Education and Brain Based Learning. Her aim is to support teachers in meeting the diverse needs of children and families.
